It took firefighters from ten stations to tackle a large hay barn fire near Roborough in the early hours of yesterday morning (August 31).
On arrival at the farm at around 5am, the incident commander confirmed that the hay barn was well alight and called in further crews.
The barn was 50m x 25m and it was holding hay.
The fire then spread to the silage pit.
Teams from Barnstaple, Ilfracombe, Bideford, Chulmleigh, Hartland, Holsworthy, North Tawton, South Molton, Torrington and Witheridge worked together to extinguish the fire using hose reel jets and 45mm jets.
A telehandler was used to removed the unaffected hay bales from the barn.
This morning a crew was still turning the hay over and dampening down.
