Fire crews were called to a telehandler on fire near Swindon at lunchtime today.
Firefighters from Swindon and Stratton St Margaret tackled the small fire at a farm on Roves Lane in Sevenhampton just after 1pm this afternoon (Wednesday, May 4).
The fire had broken out in the engine compartment of the telehandler.
Using a hose reel jet and impact gun, the fire was quickly extinguished.
As the number of machine fires starts to increase, as is usual at this time of year, the fire service reminds farmers to make sure that their machinery is well maintained and reguarly serviced regularly.
Cleaning machinery frequently to keep it free from hay, straw, oil and grease reduces the risk of fire.
