A large barn fire visible from the A30 burned through the night and into this morning.
However, the fire service has reassured people that they are dealing with it.
Just a few minutes after midnight this morning (Sunday) the Critical Control Centre of Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service took multiple calls reporting a fire in the Lewannick area near Launceston.
Due to the number of calls and reports of it being a large building in involved, crews from both Launceston and Callington were sent straight away, alongside a wholetime officer.
While en route to incident, the incident commander from Launceston requested two further appliances, which were sent from Bodmin.
The Critical Control Centre then assessed the area in which the incident was taking place and took the decision to send an additional water carrier from Liskeard in support.
At 12.30am the incident commander reported that a 100m x 50m barn was "well alight".
They asked for two further appliances and these were sent from Okehampton and Delabole.
Additional supporting appliances from Launceston (Incident Command Unit), St Mawes (Welfare Unit) and St Austell (Operational Support Vehicle) have also been in attendance.
An update at 5.45am reported that the incident was still ongoing, however it was scaling back to three appliances.
A fire service spokesperson at that time said: "The fire involves a large amount of baled straw and will burn for some time.
"The fire can still be seen from the A30 Launceston and Polyphant."
At 7.45am the spokesperson added: "Appliances from St Dennis, Fowey and Looe, along with a water carrier from Wadebridge, remain in attendance.
"The fire is still very visible from the A30 but rest assured we are on scene and dealing with this incident."
The Packet will add further updates when they become available.
