Yesterday evening the final meeting of the Cornwall YFC Executive Committee took place with Matt Hosken as chair, before the new elected team takes over for the coming year.
After a successful year, Matt has handed over to Benjamin Cavill, the new elected chair.
Ben is 25 years old and works as an Arable Agronomist with Hutchinsons. He has been a member of Falmouth YFC for ten years. As the chairman, his role is to lead and represent the federation which has 20 clubs and 850 members across Cornwall.
Ben said: "It’s certainly the start of what’s set to be a challenging but exciting 12 months!
"We have a very active competitions and social programme which helps to combat poor mental health and rural isolation, something that I am very interested in.
"I am really excited to take on the challenge of the chair, and I look forward to travelling the county, getting to know even more members and ensuring that we continue to spread the positive messages about who we are and what we do."
Rachael Benney has been elected as vice chair and Tom Retallick as junior vice chair.
Rachael tweeted: "Absolutely delighted to have been elected as vice chairman of Cornwall YFC this evening at our Exec AGM. So looking forward to the next 12 months with the team and I wish Benjamin Cavill the best of luck in his year as chairman."
Kelly Evans, county organiser for Cornwall YFC said: "Ben and Rachael are extremely dedicated members of Cornwall YFC.
"They have given many hours supporting other members, attending events and promoting the federation.
"Ben has been elected from vice chair to chairman and Rachael elected from junior vice to vice chairman so both are well prepared for the roles they have taken on.
"They are both superb advocates for the federation and will no doubt lead Cornwall YFC forward in the coming year."
