A Cornish young farmer has teamed up with Farm Safety Foundation to produce a special Christmas message.
The Farm Safety Foundation, or Yellow Wellies, as many know them, was set up by rural insurer NFU Mutual to raise awareness of farm safety among the next generation of farmers, challenge and change their attitudes to risk-taking, and reduce the number of life changing and life ending incidents that continue to give farming the poorest safety record of any occupation in the UK.
To finish the year, the Foundation has been working with Sam Oatey from Oatey Media to direct and produce a special message to share on social media channels.
The short video clip features Stephanie, Olivia and Sophie from the Farm Safety Foundation and another young farmer from Cornwall, Matt Rawlinson as well as two social media influencers Hannah Jackson (Red Shepherdess) and Tom Pemberton to remind the farming community just how important they are and wish everyone a very happy and safe Christmas.
When developing the concept for the film, the Foundation decided to approach Sam as he, and two friends Dan and Josh, had raised funds for the charity during the summer, driving from Cornwall to Pompeii dressed as the Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine characters.

Sam's company, Oatey Media has already created films for some major players within the agricultural sector including Kuhn UK, Teagle Machinery, Cornwall YFC’s My Mind Matters campaign and the Royal Cornwall Show, so they seemed the perfect team to work with for the project.
According to Stephanie Berkeley, manager at the Farm Safety Foundation: “At this time of year, any loss feels more pronounced so I decided to write a poem as a reminder of why you should work safely on farms all year round. Bringing Oatey Media on board to make our vision come to life seemed like a great fit and we are delighted with the results.”
Sam added: "Getting asked to be involved with this project was an absolute pleasure, branching out into the film industry was something very different compared to the rest of my family that are all farmers - so I know how important the Yellow Wellies message is to the agricultural industry.
“As a film production company that works closely with the farming sector, we wanted to get on board and help produce a film that would carry the Farm Safety Foundation’s underlying message.”
