More than 40 sheep were escorted over a mile by PCSOs from Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade Police on Boxing Day morning.
Posting on Facebook the station said: “This morning the PCSO’s community engagement consisted of 40+ sheep being herded over a mile back to their home field after they ignored instructions and took the scenic route.
“Ewe can now start with the puns.”
This isn’t the first time loose sheep have caused police some problems.
Back in June three woolly animals escaped from a farm in Blunsdon and had to be wrangled by North Swindon police.
