George Eustice, MP for Camborne and Redruth, has been appointed Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
He replaces Theresa Villiers who was ousted in Boris Johnson's Cabinet reshuffle earlier today.
Mr Eustice has been working in Defra since 2013, being promoted in 2015 to farming minister.
In last year's general election Mr Eustice increased the Conservative lead over Labour's Paul Farmer in the Camborne and Redruth constituency by 5.7 per cent.
Before embarking on his political career, Mr Eustice spent nine years working at his family-owned farm, Trevaskis Fruit Farm near Hayle.
