Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue have released a warning following incidents over the weekend of fires breaking out as a result of abandoned rubbish.
On August 1 a crew from Westlea and a land rover crew from Royal Wootton Bassett investigated a report of woodland smouldering near The Hillocks in Lyneham, Chippenham.
A spokesperson from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "The area is littered with broken glass.
"If you are out and about in the countryside make sure you dispose of litter properly. Glass and reflective items can start fires if left lying around on a sunny day."

A spokesperson said: "A fire crew from Royal Wootton Bassett is currently dealing with a fire involving a section of grass verge on fire near the White Hart Inn in Lyneham.
"Firefighters are using a hose reel to extinguish the fire which has spread to some fence panels."
The fire service reiterated the importance of disposing of litter properly.
