Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an excellent entry of 660 stores for the first week of November, 23% up on the year in terms of quantity and still over £150 per head up on average on the year. A tremendous trade for the time of year when 1146 were penned with the stirks and sucklers.

The trade of the day was without doubt for the incalf cows, due in the Spring to Charolais, from Needham & Sons of Dorchester, Dorset. 2016 born Charolais cross to £1130 and £1060, when 2012 born Hereford cross cows sold to £1020 (2x) and £1000 (2x). 26m old Angus cross incalf from Wilsey Down Hotel, Hallworthy to £930 (2x) and Herefords to £880 from KJ Prettejohn. Angus maiden heifers to £910 (2x) Dorset Wildlife Trust and £860 for Simmentals from R Ridout, Holwell, Sherborne.

A small end of season entry of 11 stock rams sold to a buoyant trade, when the good quality rams met spirited bidding. Texel shearlings to £345 and £310 from C Smale. A well bred Suffolk ram lamb to £305 from CJ Love. Overall average £306.25.

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report another very good entry when some good runs of weaners and fat pigs forward and sold to a strong competitive trade.
Weaners (72)
Highlight of the section was a run of 6 pens of Welsh cross Large Whites 13 w/o from P Hughes which sold to a top of £62, when others sold to £46 and £42. A Hares sold to £42 and DJ Winders also sold at £42 for his weaners.
Cull Sow & Boars (6)
No large sows forward when the best medium weights sold to £95. A single boar to £85.
Breeders (8)
Run of Gloucester Old Spot gilts to £83 from M Pearson.
Forward Stores (96)
Another very good entry when more lighter pigs were forward. Top price £128 from AT Williams. Heavies from LE Miller & Son to £128. Lights from J Sacre to £94. Strong trade for all types and weights within this section.
