South west auctioneers have had their most successful machinery sale of the year.

Stags reports that its most recent south west online timed auction of tractors, diggers, vehicles and farm machinery was their most successful sale of 2020 with 22 tractors, diggers and vehicles being sold on the evening the sale closed.

The sale comprised of 550 lots which were viewed by a massive 46,000 people during the duration of the auction run-time and attracting a huge £850,000 worth of bids, of which not all were successful.

Headline prices included a 2016 John Deere 6120M 4wd tractor and loader which achieved £54,000 - £10,000 more than the vendor had hoped it would achieve.

Of the numerous diggers entered, the top prices included a 2007 JCB 8T 8052 digger which sold for £14,500 and a 2002 Kobelco SK115R 11.5T digger consigned by an electrical company which achieved the same price.

Vehicles saw a top price of £10,200 for a 2002 Land Rover Defender 90 with very low mileage while an unusual Mercedes Unimog 406 found a new home in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales at a price of £9,750.

The sale attracted purchasers from across the UK, Ireland and even Europe with successful bidders coming from Tersannes in France, Magherafelt in Northern Ireland along with the following counties across the UK.

Harvey Pile, auctioneer from Stags, said: "These sales have grown in popularity significantly in recent months for obvious reasons associated with the ongoing pandemic we are facing and the uptake by both vendors and purchasers has been phenomenal in terms of the items consigned and the faith bidders have placed in our representation of the lots we sell.

"It is increasingly important for our longevity and for purchaser confidence that we continue to evolve and improve how we represent items, facilitate viewings and collection of items for the long-term future of these sales, allowing owners of machines to continue with important business-based transactions."
