A MOTORIST was hospitalised and a Dorset road was closed after a car collided with a tractor near a traditional country estate.
Police and an ambulance crew were called to the A3030 near the Georgian estate at around 9pm on Wednesday (July 20) after the crash, which lead to the road being shut.
Police said the crash happened near Stock Gaylard Estate, a small traditional country estate just over four miles from Sturminster Newton and eight miles from Sherborne.
A Dorset Police spokeswoman said: "We were called to the A3030 at 9.10pm after a road traffic collision involving a tractor and a car near Stock Gaylard House.
"The ambulance service also attended.
"The road was closed and later reopened, while the car needed recovery.
"The driver of the car was taken to hospital, but no reports of serious injuries."
A spokeswoman from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Rescue Service, said: "We were called at 9:50pm yesterday to attend a large vehicle road traffic collision on the A303 at Stock Lodge involving one car and one tractor.
"Crews from Sturminster Newton and Sherborne attended along with two appliances from Yeovil (Devon & Somerset FRS).
"One male occupant of the car was trapped and crews assisted helimed crews to release the casualty from the vehicle.
"The stop message came through at 10:34pm."
