Attendees of a popular show in Cornwall have vented their frustrations on social media after reportedly queueing for over two hours to get in.

Visitors to the Stithians Show in Cornwall have taken to social media to voice their displeasure after reportedly waiting up to two hours to get in to the event due to traffic.

Organisers have blamed a combination of both good weather and attendance for the wait and have thanked attendees for their patience.

It has been reported that at least one car has broken down on the way to the show.

Commenting on the event's Facebook page, Shirley Jeffries said: "We've been sat in a queue for 40 minutes and we're still one and a half miles away.

"If I hadn't bought tickets online, I would have turned round and gone home."

Ten minutes later, Shirley followed up with: "That's it we've had enough.

"Waste of £30 for tickets and loads of fuel. Going home.

"Fuming."

Andrew Jones commented saying: "Need a one way system for next year.

"Or dedicated lane for animal transport.

In an update posted on its social media account, a spokesperson for the Stithians Show said: "We are aware that there is an issue with traffic getting to the show this morning.

"This is due to a combination of good weather and a good attendance for our first show for three years, new traffic and parking arrangements and two vehicles that have broken down on the approach to the showground.

"We are getting vehicles into the showground car parks as quickly as we possibly can.

"Thank you for your patience."
