A barn caught fire near Charterhouse this morning (Friday).
Fire crews are still on the scene although the fire has been brought under control.
Firefighters used hose reel jets, 45mm jets and foam to tackle the fire.
Using thermal imaging cameras, some remain on the scene to watch for and dampen down hotspots.
Residents in the area have been advised to keep windows and doors shut due to the amount of smoke.
There have been - and continue to be - a significant number of farm fires across the south west affecting machinery, standing and cut crops and fires in the open breaking out after the driest July since 1935.
Last month, Devon and Somerset Fire Control answered more than 400 calls about small fires in the open, with 114 for one incident alone - this compares to 150 calls received in July 2021.
