Crews from 15 fire stations were needed to tackle a large fire in a field near Taunton yesterday (Wednesday).
The fires service was called just before noon with reports of a hay field on fire in Thornfalcon near North Curry.
Ten pumps along with specialised units and all-terrain vehicles were mobilised.
Crews were sent from Colyton, Crediton, Middlemoor, Clyst St George, Taunton, Bridgwater, Burnham On Sea, Street, Wellington, Yeovil, Castle Cary, Chard, Cheddar, Ilminster and Martock.
They found the 30 acre field off the A358 well alight.
Using beaters, hose reel jets and foam jets, scores of firefighters managed to get the fire under control.

Unfortunately, half of the field was damaged in the fire.
Local residents were advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to the smoke, and drivers along the A358 were told to drive slowly due to the drifting smoke.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
