A huge fire is testing firefighters as it burns through two fields near Stroud this afternoon.
Just after 3.15pm Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) reported that it was dealing with a large fire in Clapton, Berkeley.
A spokesperson warned that there would be smoke in the area for some time. They asked the public to stay away from the area and nearby residents to keep their windows and doors closed.
Some ten minutes later Avon Fire Service confirmed that it had sent fire crews from Portishead, Yate and Thornbury to assist.
At 4.20pm, GFRS reported that there are currently nine fire engines, a specialist water carrier and three officers dealing with the fire.
A spokesperson said: "Crews have worked hard to bring the fire under control with colleagues from Avon FRS who are providing drone support to help inform our tactical plans."

More information about the fire is being sought.
This is the latest in an onslaught of farm fires due to extremely high temperatures, dry land and harvest activity.
