An annual New Year’s Day tractor run returned last weekend, raising money for Children's Hospice South West.
Organised by Bob Eustis, classic and vintage tractors were invited to take part in the New Year’s Day Road Race which started at Poldark Mine in Cornwall, before stopping at Carnmenellis for tea and refreshments and then ending at Stithians.
This year’s tractor run raised more than £700 for the hospice Little Harbour in St Austell, part of Children’s Hospice South West.
Bob thanked those who helped organise the event, saying: “Once again, an amazing turnout and wonderful run.
“Every time I organise these events, I spend the week before wondering if anyone will turn up, what will the weather be etc, the list goes on.
“Without you all and your kind support, there wouldn’t be a run and I wouldn’t be able to say that we raised £701 for Little Harbour.
“Once again, thank you to Margaret Lawrence, Janet Eathorne and her team, David Edwards, Len Williams, the Seven Stars along with the people of Stithians and most of all you guys for your generosity and support.”
Bob also organises the annual Brian Pascoe Memorial Tractor Run, which returned last June after three years due to the pandemic, an impressive £1,100 for Motor Neurone Disease Association.
This year, 65 tractors turned up for the event, which started at Helston Community College bus park and was escorted by Len Williams towards Lowertown, Trevarno, Carleen, Godolphin, Ashton, onto Porthleven where they were greeted with cheers from the public.
