This was the scene facing firefighters earlier today (Thursday) near Bedminster.
A car was half-submerged in floodwater in Yanley Lane in Long Ashton.
Bedminster Fire Station's swiftwater and flood rescue technicians were called to rescue the somewhat optimistic driver of the car this morning.
The crew succeeded in extracting the driver and used specialist inflatable equipment to recover the individual to dry land.
There have been yellow and amber weather warnings for rain from the Met Office for the past two days and the bad weather is set to continue through tonight and the early hours of Friday morning.
Flooding has been widely reported throughout the south west.
