A farm shop in Cornwall has celebrated receiving the prestigious Duke of Cornwall Award 2023 during this year’s Royal Cornwall Show.

Treleague Farm Shop in Ruan Minor was presented the trophy for farm diversification from the president of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, Alexadra Bolitho.

The trophy itself is a handmade carved bowl made from an ash tree from Tresillian Woods, with the Duke of Cornwall’s crest in Cornish tin, inset. The team also received a framed certificate which was signed personally by HRH Prince William, Duke of Cornwall.

The owners of Treleague said they are thankful to have been honoured in this way, describing it as a team effort.

They said: “We believe it to be an award for the whole of ‘Team Treleague’, all of whom have worked so hard to help us grow the dairy and farm shop from when we started humble beginnings in 2015 in our farm kitchen.

“We were given the award in the main show ring of Royal Cornwall.

“It was a fantastic day out and we feel very thankful to be honoured in this way.”

The farm shop is open for the public from Monday to Saturday between the hours of 9am and 4pm, and on Sunday they open for the public from 3pm. 

Recently, the team has experimented with different flavours of ice cream using their own produce. More than 30 different flavours of ice cream have been created using traditional chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and rhubarb custard.
