At a special event in July, Halse South West were delighted to celebrate the retirement after 60 years of unbroken service of their Workshop Foreman, Allan Dinnis.
120 family, staff and invited guests enjoyed a gloriously sunny evening at The Deer Park near Honiton for an enjoyable evening to recognise Allan’s remarkable career.
Allan, who joined Halse of Honiton in 1963 aged 15, has worked for four generations of Halse’s though an era of huge change.
In his speech at the event, Peter Halse, himself 84, spoke of the day Allan’s father came into the yard asking if there was a apprenticeship available for his “boy” and of a subsequent visit suggesting it might be time for the “boy” to receive a pay rise!”
Philip Halse, the current Managing Director, said: “Allan, we are, i am truly grateful, you have been intensely loyal, extremely hardworking and very skilful over 60 years and more than that, you have been my friend and a friend to my family and that is a debt i cannot repay, thank you.”
