FARMERS across Exmoor are being reminded that they can still apply for funding for one-off projects. 

Exmoor National Park has said the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme is open to applications that can be delivered by March 2025. 

In Exmoor, since the programme began in 2001, they have helped fund 3445m of hedgerow planting, 639m of stone wall restoration and supported 354ha of habitat improvement for biodiversity.

Overall, Exmoor National Park have supported 73 projects with an average grant award of £12,000. 

The programme is to support farmers and land managers to carry out projects that: 

  • Aid nature recovery 
  • Mitigate the impacts of climate change 
  • Support nature-friendly, sustainable farming businesses 
  • Promote easier access on public rights of way 

Over five kilometres of wildlife rich hedgerows, 540 hectares of regenerative farming and research into improved management across 700 hectares of moorland are among a raft of projects in Exmoor that have been awarded funding through the government’s FiPL programme.
