A POULAR annual show was forced to close early due to the horrendous weather over the weekend.
However, traders and performers kept smiling through the downpour, hoping it the sun would eventually shine at the 2023 Somerset County Show.
The Wellington Majorettes kept soldering on on Sunday (September 17), as did the Exmoor Pony show participants, but still the show had to close early.

However, Saturday was more successful with the weather holding off to allow some outdoor events to take place.
Visitors had the chance to see the alpacas, pigmy goats and pigs, as well as enjoy the dog show and various funfair activities. There was also pony racing, scurry racing and the Exmoor ponies showed off their skills.
A spokesperson from ExieFest said: "In the most horrific weather - torrential rain, thunder and lightening - the EPS Somerset Area Show x ExieFest *LIVE* went ahead at the Somerset County Show.
"All ponies turned up except one (who gave it her best shot too thank you!) which just goes to show what dedicated stalwarts we have within our breed - thank you all, you are amazing!
"Congratulations to all our prizewinners today and well done to our champions:
-
Supreme & In-hand Champion: Hawkwell Clementine & Gemma Parry
-
Reserve Supreme & Reserve In-Hand Champion: Kestra French & Blackthorn Poteen
-
Ridden Champion: Portly French & Blackthorn Poem
