A FAMILY-RUN business in Cornwall hosted an open day for charity last month - and they raised an incredible £3,280.
Cornwall Countryside Supplies, in Truro, hosted a range of events on Saturday, September 23 from 10am until 3pm.
Visitors enjoyed a ram roast, fairground rides, a dog show, open tents with cakes and refreshments, a dunking stool, a raffle and an auction. At the event, there was a shire horse, a championship minature horse and even sheep dogs herding ducks.
Anthony Nicholls, owner of Cornwall Countryside Supplies, said: "We are very pleased with how the day went - everybody loved it.
"It was a nice traditional country day out. We had sheep dogs herding ducks and the gentleman who was in charge of them wanted to watch the auction, so he told the dogs to watch the ducks. Well, they didn't move unless the ducks did - it was amazing to watch.
"We were very pleased with the amount we raised and honoured that so many people came and supported us."
The company chose to raise funds for the RNLI as one of their reps is a volunteer for the RNLI and he is retiring this year.
Cornwall Countryside Supplies is a small business that has been running for 15 years. The staff members are all experienced in certain areas of farming and general animal husbandry.
Anthony and his wife Julie, who runs the business alongside him, are thinking about running a similar event again next year but have not yet decided which charity they will support.
