PRIMARY school children in Devon were delighted when two vintage tractors visited earlier this month, bringing with them £600 towards the cost of the school's new trim trail.
The children at Shaugh Prior Primary School, near Plymouth, enjoyed the tractor run on October 6.
George, landlord of The White Thorn Inn along with Chris and Keith, local farmers and tractor enthusiasts, decided to raise some funds for the school. Earlier this year, the trio organised a tractor run and raffle to raise funds for the school's trim trail. They raised £600.50.
Mrs Baker, executive head and Mrs Vicky Dan, chair of the PTA said they were 'delighted' with the amount raised, and said the children were fascinated by the vintage tractors.
"We are delighted with the support from the local community and the fact that they were willing to raise funds for us, demonstrates such a great community spirit," said Mrs Baker.
"We are so grateful for the time and effort that has gone into organising the event."
Mrs Dan added: "We have been organising summer fairs, sponsored events, discos and recycle clothing projects to raise the funds for the trim trail, and with this huge amount we have now reached our target. We can't thank them enough."
