A BRAND new resource for farm vets launched at the weekend.
Vet Sustain and VetSalus have created a 'user-friendly' resource to inspire vet professionals to have discussions with farmers about sustainability in agriculture.
The businesses say farming is often cited as a 'major contributor' to climate change and that the role of sustainable farming has 'never been so important'. As trusted advisors, they believe farm vets are 'integral' to helping support sustainable and regenerative farming practices.
David Black, managing director of VetSalus, said: “After feedback from veterinary colleagues we set out to develop a user-friendly resource for vet professionals to inspire and enable them to have discussions around sustainability in agriculture; we have provided concepts and evidence to help initiate and maintain meaningful dialogue, thus avoiding polarising debate."
The factsheet creted by Vet Sustain and VetSalus outlines come of the key considerations when approaching these conversations and to act as a starting point towards encouraging a more regenerative mindset.
Chair of Vet Sustain, Ed Bailey, said sustainable farming is a 'complex and nuanced' subject - and there are many different views on the matter.
"This can feel overwhelming as a practising vet trying to navigate conversations with farmers, colleagues or friends who look to us for knowledge and advice," he added.
"This resource is a starting point to help engage and understand more about the challenges and solutions.”
The factsheet launched at this year's BCVA congress.
