A COMMERCIAL deer farm set between Dartmoor and Exmoor has been sold.
This residential holding was sold by Greenslade Taylor Hunt, after it went on the market earlier this year.
Horridge Farm at Ashreigney had a guide price of £1.8million. It was operated as a commercial deer farm by the sellers, who have now retired. They owned the farm since 1989 and at its peak, the farm had around 350 head of deer.
The buyers of the farm, which is near Chumleigh in Devon, are from a farming background.
The farm itself extends to around 112.63 acres, and the farmhouse has been designed with an upside down layout. The five bedroom property is converted from a traditional stone barn and has a self-contained annexe.
The farm buildings have been specifically designed for deer handling and the land is deer fenced.
In addition, a large modern agricultural barn on the farm has recently been granted Class Q consent to create a four-bedroom detached home.
Richard Webber, partner in charge of the firm's South Molton office, said: “The sale of Horridge Farm provided prospective purchasers an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a versatile rural property, affording an eclectic mix of residential, development, agricultural and amenity appeal.”
