During the second half of 2023 I hardly managed any trips to archaeological sites…. This was my last visit to one in early November. Here’s hoping that 2024 is a better year, stuffed with archaeological goodness for all of us! #silbury #avebury #archaeology #WorldHeritage pic.twitter.com/ixyJDBCSxh

Silbury Hill at The Farm at Avebury
Time Out said: "The weird and wonderful Wiltshire landscape should be on everyone’s UK travel wish list: a sweep of lush, green hills dotted with mind-bogglingly ancient monuments. And a weekend’s exploration is well spent at The Farm at Avebury.
"Its six stable conversions have mod cons galore and loft rooms reached via ladders. Fuel up with sausages made on the farm before a day wandering around the stone circles and market towns that dot the countryside around here, then retreat back to the floral overload of the communal courtyard for sundowners and an evening round the fire pit.
"Book ahead to bag Silbury Hill, the biggest and most deluxe of the six stables."
What’s the budget range? Enjoy a luxury family stay or an affordable break for three couples.
What’s it like to stay here? An exceptional country stay with a beautifully landscaped garden, BBQing facilities and views of Silbury Hill.
Rooms: 3 beds, 2 baths. Sleeps 6.
Avebury.

'Please let us know if you would like any beef, lamb, pork or venison for your stay'
Hungry? No problem!
Their listing states: "Silbury Hill is the largest of all our luxury stable conversions and can be linked with Long Barrow through a shared boot room to create the perfect combined space for family and friends to stay together.
"There are three beautifully-styled bedrooms. The king room on the mezzanine floor (accessed via a built-in wooden ladder) has its own ensuite bathroom and views of neolithic Silbury Hill.
"On the ground floor, a second king room and a twin room share a family bathroom.
"As a welcome for all our guests, we provide tea, coffee, local milk, sourdough bread, butter and apple juice. We also produce our own meat on the farm so please let us know if you would like any beef, lamb, pork or venison for your stay. We have a list which we can email ahead of your stay."
