SOMERSET has been hit with several flood alerts by the Environment Agency ahead of further heavy rain expected to douse the county from midnight tonight (Tuesday, February 20).
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Somerset, which will be in effect from midnight until 12pm on Wednesday, February 21.
It's one of several recent weather warnings issued for the county, as heavy rain has caused chaos with flooding affecting many areas since the start of the year.
Ahead of the forecast torrential downpour, here are all of the flood alerts in effect across Somerset currently.
Flood alerts in Somerset
The Environment Agency says flooding is 'possible' in the following areas.
Those affected are advised to avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and urged not to attempt to walk, cycle or drive through flood water.
- Lower Tone and Parrett Moors: Lower Rivers Tone and Parrett including West Moor, Hay Moor, Curry Moor, Stan Moor, Salt Moor and North Moor.
- River Yeo and River Parrett Moors around Muchelney and Thorney: River Yeo and River Parrett Moors including access from Langport, Law Lane from Drayton, Law Lane from Thorney, Wetmoor Lane from Long Load and properties in Muchelney, Muchelney Ham and Thorney.
- West Somerset Streams: Horner Water, Rivers Aller and Washford, and the Hawkcombe, Monksilver and Doniford Streams and tributaries.
