MEMBERS of Somerset YFC headed down to Newquay for the annual South West Area Weekend.
From March 1 until 3, young farmers took part in a variety of competitions from public speaking to performing arts.
In Somerset, Wedmore took the top spot in the Disco Dancing competition, while Chairman of Somerset YFC, Sam Wade, won the sandcastle building competition.
Other noteable results for Somerset young farmers included:
- Junior Member of the Year – Grace W from Wedmore came second
- Mace Debating - Yeovil came third
- Junior Public Speaking - Wedmore came third
- Junior Reading - Wedmore came third
- Highly Commended Brainstrust – Elizabeth B from Wedmore, Verity A from Polden Hills, Isobel B from Frome and Zoe S from Ilminster
- Drama - Polden Hills came fourth
- Senior Member of the Year - Mellisa S from Polden Hills was Highly Commended
- Situations Vacant 22-28 - Kenny G from Yeovil was Highly Commended
- Situations Vacant - Zoe Stanbury from Ilminster came fourth
A spokesperson for Somerset YFC said: "Huge congratulations to everyone competing and all the hard work you have all put in."
