A RENOVATED cottage wrecked by fire and agricultural land in Somerset were stand out lots at the recent Greenslade Taylor Hunt (GTH) auction.
Willow Cottage, in Ilton, near Ilminster, sold for an impressive £202,000 - £52,000 above the guide price.
At the height of the blaze back in 2022, 19 fire crews fought to save the cottage.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt, but the house was left uninhabitable by the fire back in 2022.
Willow Cottage was sold at auction at the Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster, last week by auctioneers GTH.
Samuel Powell, who marketed the property, said: “It was sold with no planning but as an exciting opportunity should one gain the necessary consents.
“We had a number of interested parties with it achieving £52,000 above the guide price.”
It was among a number of pleasing results for the auctioneers.
Also sold at the auction was land at Dundon Drove, Somerton for £268,000.
This versatile agricultural land had good access and its own water supply and sold significantly over the pre-sale guide of £180,000.
The next GTH property auction takes place on Wednesday, May 22, at 2pm at Aldwick Estate, Redhill, Blagdon, Bristol. For more information call 01935 423474.
