A decision on the A30 planned road closure during this weekend’s Royal Cornwall Show has been made.

Royal Cornwall Show has today (Tuesday) confirmed that the previously planned daytime closures have been lifted for the entire three-day duration of the show this weekend.

The news comes after the initial announcement of a full A30 closure sparked concerns. The closure, originally planned for Friday 7 to the morning of Monday 6, coincided with the show's busiest days.

Many voiced their frustration on social media, questioning the timing of the roadworks and its impact on the local economy.

While overnight closures (8pm-6am) remain in place from Monday, June 3rd to Thursday, June 6th, on the A30 between Chiverton and Mitchell, there will be no daytime disruptions during the Royal Cornwall Show itself.

Those travelling during the overnight closures can use the designated diversion route via Chiverton, Chybucca (B3284), and the B3285 link from the A39.

Secretary of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, Chris Riddle commented: “‘We are very happy to hear that in this instance common sense has prevailed, and disruption to traffic heading to the Show during the day will be mitigated.

“We still advise that anyone visiting the Show this week gives themselves plenty of time for their journey, and have a wonderful time while they are here.”

The Royal Cornwall Show takes place at the Royal Cornwall Events Centre near Wadebridge on the 6, 7 & 8 June.
