THE south west came out top at this year's National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) Tug of War competition.
Young farmers from across the UK took part in the event, which was held at the Tenbury Show on August 3 2024.
Anstey YFC came out top winning the Men's Tug of War competition, with Honiton YFC coming in third place.
Young farmers from Honiton YFC also came third in the GENSB Tug of War competition.
Also in Devon YFC, a team from Whimple & Broadclyst young farmers came third in the Ladies Tug of War competition, with a Somerset YFC tea - Polden Hills - coming in fourth place.
A spokesperson from Somerset YFC said: "A huge well done to our Somerset team, with members from Polden Hills, Bridgwater, Farrington Gurney and North Somerset YFC, who represented Somerset in the National Finals tug of war competition today at the Tenbury Show.
"They worked hard as a team and came away with 4th place. Well done to all involved including their coaches Martin, Merv and Sid."
St Mabyn YFC, from Cornwall, came joint fifth place in the GENSB Tug of War competition.
A spokesperson from Cornwall YFC added: "Congratulations to the Junior Team from St Mabyn YFC, who travelled to Tenbury Show to compete in the National TOW Finals! To gain this opportunity, the team had to win the Cornwall round and the South West round, which in itself is something to be incredibly proud of.
"Thank you and well done for taking the time to represent Cornwall at such a high level, the team came third in their half of the draw which is incredible - we hope you enjoyed your experience and are ready for next year!"
