A DISPERSAL sale of the Haydon flock of Bleu Du Maine’s included a top price of 3350gns on Saturday, August 10.

One of the flock's show shearling ewes took centre stage during the sale. The flock is under the Somerset-based Haydon Flock Partnership ownership.

Leading the sale at 3350gns was Haydon Yoyo DE23 548, a daughter of the successful flock sire, Perdi Singy boy and out of Perdi Stelar who carries Perdi breeding on both sides. She has previously stood reserve breed champion at the Royal Three Counties Show this year.

Taking her home, along with a few other lots on the day was R Pilkington, Hope, Wrexham.

Joining her on the way home to Wrexham was another shearling ewe, this time Haydon Yola DE23 524, selling for 3000gns. By Ballytaggart Wing Man and out of Haydon Vanessa, a Perdi Topspec daughter, this one had also seen a strong show career having stood reserve champion at the Welsh last year as a lamb and breed champion at the Royal Bath and West this year.

Leading ewe lamb trade at 1800gns was Haydon Z113, a Maximum Yeats daughter out of the Maximum Orinoco daughter, Haydon Trixie. This one caught the eye of Tom Stayt, Chipping Norton, Oxon.

Aged ewes saw a high of 1650gns for the mother of the second highest priced shearling ewe, Haydon Vanessa DE21 347. By Perdi Topspec and out of a Perdi bred female by Randalstown Nugget, this one went back to Somerset with Steve and Rachel Stamp, Highbridge, Somerset.

AT 1500gns was another aged ewe, this time Haydon Valentina DE21 342. Again, by Singy Boy, this one is full sister to the top priced shearling ewe and was knocked down to James Cruden and Sons, Dyce, Aberdeen.

Then at 1300gns came Haydon DE21 349, again by Singy Boy and this time out of Haydon Sweet Pea. Taking this one home to New Cumnock, Ayrshire, was K McDermid.

Leading ram lamb trade at 1000gns was Haydon Zain DE24 571, a son of Maximum Yeats and out of the successful Haydon Vanessa. This one joins the two top priced females, selling to R Pilkington.
