A CONFERENCE on sheep farming is taking place in Cornwall today (August 20).

Organised by the Soil Association and Farm Carbon Toolkit, the Farm Net Zero Sheep Conference will run from 10:30am until 4pm and be held at Trefrank Farm in Launceston.

The event will be hosted by Farm Net Zero monitor farmers, Matt and Pip Smith. They will cover a range of topics that will help farmers to increase the profitability and environmental
sustainability of sheep production.

The conference will focus on:

  • Herbal leys for sheep and how to graze them
  • Breeding for resilience to parasitic worms
  • The Farm Net Zero Innovative Farmers Field Lab on Diverse Covers for Weaned Lambs
  • Soils and greenhouse gas emissions and the impact of changes in management

As well as this, the event will cover the Innovative Farmers field lab which is looking at reducing worm burden in lambs. This field lab is taking place on two farms in Cornwall, and two farms in Devon.
