A 28-home development is being proposed for a site south of Athelhampton Road, Puddletown.
Lewis Wyatt Construction is behind the application for the two-hectare Adminston Farm site which allows for 75 cars on the site with a mixture of market and ‘affordable’ homes.
Nineteen of the properties are planned for open market sale – five with four, or more, bedrooms; eight with three beds and six with two bedrooms.
The remainder of the homes are listed as being for ‘social, affordable or intermediate rent’, mainly two-bedroom.
The site is to the east of the village between Puddletown’s GP surgery and the Old Chapel and cemetary on Athelhampton Road.
A public consultation about the proposals was held in March last year with invitations sent out to around 400 residents resulting in around a hundred attending a meeting in Puddletown Village Hall – where around a quarter agreed that the proposals met theNeighbourhood Plan housing targets in full, or part. Four did not agree.
Among the reservations expressed were the effects of extra traffic, the lack of space for public allotments, and what some saw as the need for more one-bed properties on the site – while several said they feared some of the homes would be bought for holiday homes and asked for measures to stop the homes being re-let or used for second homes or holiday homes.
Public comments on the plans, which can be seen in full on the Dorset Council website, remain open until October 4th using reference P/FUL/2024/04104
