A POPULAR ploughing match has been cancelled due to the recent wet weather.
The North Somerset Ploughing Match was due to take place this Sunday (September 29) at land off Ashley Lane, Hayatt, Langford.
North Somerset Agricultural Show, organisers of the event, announced the news on their social media pages yesterday (September 26).
They have cancelled due to the ground conditions and the bad weather that is forecast this weekend.
A spokesperson for North Somerset Agricultural Show said: "Following the recent bad weather, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel this years Ploughing Match.
"The consensus was that the current ground conditions and forecast would make it difficult to run the event safely and to the standard that we would like. We realise that this will be a huge disappointment to you all."
The event was due to feature a range of ploughing competitions, food stalls, craft exhibits, live demonstrations and tractor displays.
This was supposed to be the 136th annual crafts and produce show, alongside the 181st ploughing and hedge match.
