A new book celebrating Exmoor's farmers has been launched.

The book, titled Exmoor Farms: A Year on the Moor, was launched on October 16 at Cutcombe Market, with more than 150 people in attendance.

The book marks the Exmoor Hill Farming Network's 10th birthday and the 70th anniversary of Exmoor becoming a National Park.

Written by Exmoor farmer and author Victoria Eveleigh, it records a year in the lives of Exmoor's farmers and is illustrated with photographs by Eleanor Davis.

Network manager Katherine Williams said: "I wanted to find a way to tell the hidden stories of our farms and create a record of the farming year that would show some of the things our farmers do - capturing this moment in Exmoor’s history.

"A book also seemed the perfect way to celebrate the Network."

The idea for the project originated in December 2022 during a conversation between Ms Williams and Kate O’Sullivan, chair of the Exmoor Society.

An exhibition has also been launched to accompany the book.

The photographic exhibition at White Rock Cottage, Simonsbath, has only been open for a couple of weekends but hundreds of people have been to see it.

The book is available for purchase at the Exmoor Hill Farming Network’s office at Cutcombe Market, The Village Stores in Withypool, Exmoor National Park Visitor Centres, and at White Rock Cottage from November 1 to November 3.

The team behind the project has been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to the book and the sales in just 10 days.
