A new illuminated winter trail is set to open in Somerset.

Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm has announced the launch of Enchantment at Langford Lakes - a unique illuminated winter trail.

The trail, which is set to open on November 23, is the creation of award-winning wood sculptor, Matthew Crabb.

Mr Crabb said: "I have always felt that the illuminated trails out there are pretty underwhelming and don’t really offer much for young children.

"My focus is less about just putting coloured lights up and more about creating a fantasy and magic-themed adventure with lots of interactive features and spectacular photo opportunities.

"We have a full-size dragon emerging from a lake, a giant toadstool that transforms you into a fairy, a castle hidden in a magical forest to name a few."

The trail will feature Mr Crabb's large-scale sculptures, set against the backdrop of the farm's Christmas tree woodland and lakeside landscape.

Shaun Hendy from Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm, which is based at Middle Hill Farm in Langford Budville on the Somerset/Devon border, said: "We’re absolutely thrilled to be able to open up the farm to the public in a new way.

"When Matthew approached us with his vision, we immediately knew that the landscape of mature Christmas trees and the lakes would work perfectly with his wooden sculptures and floating installations, to create something new and unique.

"We can’t wait to share this magical illuminated trail with everyone."

The trail will be open for 24 nights between November 23 and December 30.

It will be open from 5pm to 9pm, with the last entry at 7.30pm.

The trail is approximately one kilometre long and will take around 60 minutes to complete.

The experience takes place in a farm environment and although there are gravel pathways, some of the trails are on grass.

The organisers aim to be as accessible as possible, allowing for the natural terrain.
