A YOUNG farmers club from Cornwall has launched a cookbook.
Landrake Young Farmers, which was established in 1937, launched their book at The Geffery Memorial Hall on Friday, November 15.
Members of the club and the advisory committee attended alongside guests who bought tickets, and the group sold more than 250 books on the night.
The cookbook was created as part of one of the fundraising activities organised by the club. The three charities that are being supported by the sales are Cornwall Air Ambulance, Farming Community Network and Cancer UK.
There were tastings of 15 recipes, as well as a raffle and talks from the chosen charities.
Penny Maddever, treasurer to the advisory committee, said: "Every year, in conjunction with the club members, we discuss fundraising ideas and I have always wanted to write a cookbook. Another club chose that idea so it was put onto the back burner for a while. However, last year I saw my opportunity!
"I love cooking and sharing what I make with family and friends. What better way than to put all our tried and tested recipes together.
"I approached the club members with my idea, although they had a really busy year ahead, they all thought we should go for it. In fact, one member approached me as her Dad had a printing business!
"In November 2023, I started to compile a steady stream of recipes from across the club network, past and present members, families and friends.
"We have created a 166-page colour cookbook of which we are all very proud."
The book itself is dedicated for Kim Byles, who Penny said was an 'inspiration'.
"The launch was a truly amazing and magical evening, everyone really enjoyed catching up with people they hadn't seen for ages," Penny added.
"The books make a perfect Christmas present and there are some still available to buy from local businesses."
